GST Payments bank: On October 4, 2024, the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) announced the inclusion of Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Limited (TMBL) as a new payment option on the GST Portal. This brings the total number of banks facilitating GST payments to 30. This addition aligns with GSTN’s ongoing initiative to offer taxpayers a wider range of banking options for fulfilling their GST obligations.

With TMBL now integrated, businesses and taxpayers can enjoy greater flexibility when selecting their preferred bank for making seamless and secure GST payments. The GSTN’s effort to expand banking partnerships enhances the convenience of the GST payment process, ensuring quicker transactions and improved accessibility.

1. UPI Payment Facilities Extended to Punjab and Uttarakhand:
The UPI (Unified Payments Interface) system, which enables instant money transfers through mobile devices, is now available for GST payments in Punjab and Uttarakhand. This extension allows taxpayers in these states to conveniently use their mobile phones to make secure and seamless GST payments, promoting the government’s push toward a cashless economy. UPI’s integration adds flexibility, enabling businesses and individual taxpayers to experience quicker, real-time transactions without the need for banking cards or complex credentials.

2. Canara Bank Added as a Payment Gateway:
To further expand payment choices, Canara Bank has been added as a payment gateway for GST digital transactions. With this, taxpayers can now use Canara Bank’s gateway for payments via cards (credit and debit), and UPI, ensuring a broader range of payment methods that suit both businesses and individuals. The addition enhances the user experience by providing more payment options and improving transaction speed and reliability. Canara Bank’s integration reinforces the GSTN’s commitment to making the tax payment process simpler, more accessible, and efficient.

3. Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Limited (TMBL) as a GST Payment Option:
Tamilnad Mercantile Bank has now been added to the GST Portal as one of the authorized banks for GST payments. This inclusion brings the total number of banks supporting GST transactions to 30, allowing taxpayers to select TMBL as their preferred banking partner for fulfilling their tax obligations. TMBL’s addition helps improve banking reach, especially for its customers in southern India, by offering them a familiar and trusted banking option for secure and seamless GST payments.
