Bank Holidays in April 2021, banks to remain close for 15 days

Private and public banks in India will stay closed for 15 days in April 2021 due to various bank holidays. It also involve the second and fourth Saturdays as the banks stay shut on these days. Bank holidays in April 2021 include festivals such as Ram Navmi, Good Friday, Bihu, and Babu Jagjivan Ram’s Birthday, Tamil New Year, and so on. In April 2021, we have 10 gazetted holidays (national holidays) and the remaining 5 are state and region-specific holidays.

1 April – To enable Banks to close their yearly accounts

2 April – Good Friday

4 April – Sunday

5 April – Babu Jagjivan Ram Jayanti (Telangana & Andhra Pradesh)

6 April – General Elections to Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly 2021

10 April – Second Saturday

11 April – Sunday

18 April – Sunday

21 April – Shree Ram Navmi (Chaite Dashain)/Garia Puja

24 April – Fourth Saturday

25 April – Sunday

Apart from Sundays, the banks remain closed on second and fourth Saturdays. The bank customers planning a visit to their respective banks in the month of April 2021 are advised to plan their visit in accordance with the bank holidays.

While the bank branches will remain closed on these days, mobile and internet banking will remain functional as usual. Customers can make transactions through online modes.

However, not all states observe bank holidays, and it largely depends on the state or region. Therefore, national holidays are applicable to all the states in India but regional holidays are applicable only to specific states. It is recommended that bank account holders schedule their transactions accordingly.
