According to the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday list, banks across the country will be closed for a total upto 16 days in January 2022. The second and fourth Saturdays, as well as Sundays, are included. Every month on the first and third Saturdays, the banks are open. Aside from the weekly shutdowns, banks will be closed in a number of states owing to other holidays. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has divided the holidays into three categories: Negotiable Instruments Act Holidays, Negotiable Instruments Act Holidays, and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holidays; and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.
The only national holiday on which all banks will be closed is Republic Day, which falls on January 26. (Wednesday). There are also a few state-specific bank holidays. Full list of bank holidays are as follows-

4 January, 2022: Losoong in Gangtok
8 January, 2022: Second Saturday
9 January, 2022: Weekly off (Sunday)
11 January, 2022: Missionary Day in Aizwal
12 January, 2022: Birthday of Swami Vivekananda in Kolkata
14 January, 2022: Makar Sankranti /Pongal in Ahmedabad, Chennai, Imphal
15 January, 2022: Uttarayaana Punyakaala Makar Sankranti Festival/ Maghe Sankranti/ Sankranti/ Pongal/ Thiruvalluvar Day/ Gaan-Ngai/ Magh Bihu in Bengaluru, Chennai, Gangtok, Guwahati, Imphal, and Hyderabad
16 January, 2022: Weekly off (Sunday)
18 January, 2022: Thai Poosam in Chennai
22 January, 2022: Fourth Saturday
23 January, 2022: Weekly off (Sunday)
26 January, 2022: Republic Day
30 January, 2022: Weekly off (Sunday)
However, you must note that the banks will NOT be closed for 16 days in all states or regions. This is the total number of days when banks in different parts of the country will remain closed for state-observed holidays. Thus, it must be noted that the bank holidays vary in various states as well not observed by all the banking companies. Banking holidays also depend on the festivals being observed in specific states or notification of specific occasions in those states.
