Andhra Pradesh receives approval for biometric aadhaar at GST Seva Kendra

biometric aadhaar at GSTBiometric aadhaar at GST: Andhra Pradesh has been given permission to use biometric-based Aadhaar authentication through Goods and Services Tax (GST) Seva Kendras, according to a statement made by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. She claimed that doing this will increase security and streamline the GST registration procedure.

The amount of GST collected nationwide in October reached a 10-month high of ₹1.72 lakh crore. The GST collections in Andhra Pradesh have also increased significantly. Between April and October of 2023, the state’s post-settlement GST proceeds increased by 12% annually.

Speaking at the GST Bhavan’s foundation-stone-laying ceremony in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati Commissionerate which collected ₹8,264 crore in GST revenue in FY23 and ₹5,019 crore between April and September of 2023, according to Sitharaman. “The manufacturing of automobile batteries, cement, and passenger cars is the main source of this remarkable growth,” the spokesperson stated.

October saw a 13% year-over-year increase in India’s total GST revenue collection to ₹1.72 lakh crore, the second-highest amount ever. In October, the combined collection for the states and the center was ₹74,785 crore and ₹72,934 crore, respectively.

Speaking at the event, revenue secretary Sanjay Malhotra advised Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) officers to continue to focus on redressing the grievances of taxpayers.
