GST: 3.26 lakh taxpayers who have not paid a single rupee as GST

Official Twitter handle of Commercial taxes Department, Government of Tamil Nadu tweets a press release stating, “Attention Taxpayers!! CTD identified 3.26 lakh taxpayers who have not paid a single rupee as GST and about 1.94 lakh taxpayers who have paid less than 1000 as GST for the year 2021-22. CTD has warned them to set right their tax payment account within a month !”

Commercial Taxes Department has identified 3.26 lakh dealers as not having paid a single rupee as GST during the year 2021-2022. Similarly, about 1.94 lakh dealers have paid less than Rs.1000 as GST for the entire year. Department has sent mails to all these dealers, requesting them to verify their accounts and pay any tax due for all the years. It was also warned that, should the department find tax evasion, not only tax due, but also penalty and interest will be levied and collected.

All the dealers are therefore requested to set right their tax payment account within one month.
