GSTN enables GST Payments through UPI/Credit/Debit Cards in Jammu and Kashmir

GST Payments: Indian Government in order to facilitate the taxpayer registered under GST with more facilities and convenience announced two new facilities of payment under e-payment a few months back in 10 states. These new methods are Cards and Unified Payments Interface (UPI).

In card, facility includes Credit Card (CC) and Debit Cards (DC) namely Mastercard, Visa, RuPay, and Diners(CC only) issued by any Indian bank. Payment through CC/DC/UPI can be made through Kotak Mahindra Bank irrespective of CC/DC issued by any Indian bank. As per the announcement, other banks are in the process of integration that will soon allow them to pay through other banks.

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Payments in the Jammu and Kashmir region is easier now as the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) has enabled the facility to make payments through UPI & Debit and Credit Cards.

GSTN revealed this update in a tweet Currently, the Goods and Services Tax Payments of these states can be made through using UPI or Debit/Credit Card facilities: –

  • Assam
  • Delhi
  • Goa
  • Gujarat
  • Haryana
  • Himachal Pradesh
  • Jharkhand
  • Karnataka
  • Kerala
  • Madhya Pradesh
  • Maharashtra
  • Odisha
  • Rajasthan
  • Tripura
  • Uttar Pradesh

With the New addition of Jammu & Kashmir to the list, the nationwide tax compliance has been made easier by the government. This will save time of the tax payer they can make payment through using UPI or Debit/Credit Card.

The government has not yet adequately addressed the issue of the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal’s absence. But with the President’s appointment, the tribunal should be able to function as a decision-making body for taxpayer issues fairly quickly.

Follow these steps to pay your GST

  • Log in to www.gst.gov.in
  • Create Challan and select E-Payment
  • Choose from multiple payment options such as Credit/Debit Card or UPI.
  • Select Bank and click on Make Payment.
  • Enter Credit/Debit Card or UPI details of any bank of your choice.
  • Complete the transaction.
