ICAI Implements UDIN Archiving to Optimize Server Load

UDIN Archiving

UDIN Archiving: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is implementing changes to manage UDINs (Unique Document Identification Numbers) more efficiently. They will archive UDINs one year after generation, starting from 2019, to reduce server load and improve data organization. The phased implementation ensures minimal disruption, and users can access archived UDINs through the Members’ portal. This change aims to enhance server performance, streamline data access, and support chartered accountants’ professional activities in India.

The official ICAI announcement on UDIN Archiving is as follows:

UDIN DirectorateThe Institute of Chartered Accountants of India26th Oct 2023

Dear Member,

 Archiving of UDINs

It has been decided to archive UDINs after one year of their generation to ease off the load on the servers. Implementation of archiving UDINs has been scheduled in the phased manner beginning for the year 2019 in the first phase, followed for the years 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023, thereafter.

In order to search archived UDINs on the Portal, members are required to follow these steps: Members’ login > List UDIN > Document Generation Year > Select UDIN Generation Year from the drop-down menu in the List > Click Button (Filter & Sort).

The archiving provision comes into force with immediate effect.
