In an effort to stop GST evasion, the government has already made electronic invoices mandatory for B2B transactions with annual turnover exceeding Rs 5 crore. According to the report, the new program will support electronic invoice generation at the B2C level and permit the purchaser to enter the lottery based on this.

The scheme, according to the official, is intended to reward customers who ask for genuine invoices from sellers when making a B2C (business to consumer) purchase of goods or services. Through this program, the government hopes to encourage B2C tax compliance among businesses and consumers nationwide, the official continued.

The technology platform which will allow consumers to register and upload invoices on a mobile application has been developed by the GST Network (GSTN). In addition to tax compliance, the scheme is aimed at increasing consumer spending and keeping a check on tax evasion, the officials stated.
